Let’s face it, no one really likes getting up in the morning. No matter how you cut it, mornings are a drag. But, they don’t have to be. There are things that you can do to get yourself up and moving in the morning and make it more fun and enjoyable. It all starts by getting yourself on a schedule. You are probably thinking schedule, yeah right. But, it can be simpler than you think.
Start by setting your alarm clock for a half hour before you actually need to get out of bed. That way when you hit the snooze button for a few minutes, you are still going to be on time and ready to start the day. The main thing is you want to get into the habit of waking up at the same time every day. Before you know it, you will be hopping out of bed and ready to go on your own.
Instead of rushing around in the morning to get the kids ready for school, pack their lunches, pick out clothes and so on, consider doing it all the night before. You can pack the kids lunch and put it in the fridge for them to grab in the morning. Have them pick out the clothes they want to wear the night before so they wake up and get going in the morning. The same for yourself. Pick your clothes out the night before as well. This prevents your having to fumble around in the closet to find something to wear when you are still half asleep.
Another great trick is to walk the dog in the morning before work. Don’t have a dog? That’s okay, you can go for a leisurely walk on your own as well. When you get up and get moving, it helps to invigorate your senses and leave you feeling energized and alive. You tend to be more alert than if you just get up, get dressed and head out to work. Moving around is the key to waking up and getting started for the day.
While these are only a few tips out there for you to try, there are plenty of others as well. The key is figuring out what works for you and sticking with it. Before long, you will be on a set schedule and able to handle whatever comes along.
